Gayborhood Dinners

If you are fortunate enough to live in Dallas, you already know what a thriving GLBT community Dallas offers.  There are many social outlets for just about any taste.  However, in the N/W quadrant of Dallas, we have a special organization that focuses only on creating a sense of neighborhood for the GLBT people in our area.  It is called simply enough, The Gayborhood.  While roughly defined as the area boundaried by Northwest Highway to the south, Stemmons Freeway to the west, Central Expressway to the east and LBJ Freeway to the north, we welcome anyone who wants to join us for dinner, drinks and fun each month.  We had our first official dinner in June of 2001, so we will celebrate our Ninth year this year. 

We have a 2nd 2'sday Gayborhood Dinner at the same restaurant each month.  January through October we also have a Fourth Thursday dinner.  Those dinners are suspended in November and December due to holiday conflicts.  The location of the Fourth Thursday dinners change each month, so to get information on where the dinners are held, simply drop an email to Danny at DannyAlanScott@aol.com and ask to receive the Gayborhood Newsletter!

The mission of The Gayborhood is to meet other GLBT folks who live in the area.  You run into them in the grocery stores, home improvement stores or nurseries.  You KNOW they are GLBT, but you are reluctant to introduce yourself, right?  Well, now you can meet them in a fun non-threatening environment.   We also get to try new restaurants suggested by other Gaybors.  While The Gayborhood has no real agenda other than fun and socializing, we certainly aren't shy about leveraging our presence.  We were thrilled to host our City Councilwoman at a Gayborhood Dinner.  After doing so, for the first time in history, the City Council Representative from District 13 participated in Dallas' Gay Pride Parade!
